Bird Flu, A Concern for Maldives?

Since the virus of bird flu transmits from birds to humans, there is very little to worry about for the Maldivians because we do not import too many live chickens. We import a large number of frozen chickens which are harmless. However, there might be a danger for the chickens that roam freely in the islands to catch the virus from migratory birds. But even if someone gets the flu it is unlikely that it would spread to anything like epidemic level.

Importing live chickens and other birds from countries of South East Asia could be dangerous.

We better be prepared for the worst case scenario rather than being sorry later.
